PASSING GAS--TAX, THAT IS

Your Friendly Basin doesn't give a pitcher of warm spit for the revolutionary Federal Gas Tax Holiday--BUT, I do think the criticisms of the McCain/Clinton Plan are funny, usually made by the same pundit(s)

Criticism one--It's not enough gross money to really matter

Criticism two--It'll encourage more gas use which will reduce supply and increase prices

Query: If it's not enough money to really matter, then how will it possibly impact usage? It either matters or it doesn't.

NOTE: this is not a "stand up for Hillary" Post (I really can't generate much enthusiasm for either side of the issue). It's a "How can people stay on television when they say such stupid stuff?" post.

'Cuz we's to stupid ta study it out fer ourselfs. Dem folks on the teevee jis tell us what ta do! S'much easier that way.

I had a guy insisting that we not buy any gas today. Not buying any gas at all today is like only letting the gas tank get 1/4 empty and then filling up more often. It still takes as much gas and as much money in the long run, but I bet my buddy didn't buy any gas today!

A gas tax holiday is exactly what the oil companies will want. They can artificially raise prices and pocket even larger record profits. You can bet your ass if a gas tax holiday happens gas prices will raise to make up the difference.

Seems to be a moot point----Hillary says she will introduce legislation to suspend the federal gas tax but the Democrat congressional leaders say it will be DOA.

But still, what rational person depends on "pundits" for information?

UMR, I thought you were a lawyer and therefore ruled by the "left brain" as the good Rev. Wright claims all white people are.

On the other hand, since I've never seen you... :-D

Fred,

I took a growth spurt and grew up through it. Used to have serious 'Fro, though. For a while had a Fu, to go with it. A few prison tats and I'd have ruled the weight room.

As far as the left brain/right brain thing, I just use whichever half is on duty that day.
