IMMIGRATION REFORM: HEY, TEDDY! TEXT ME!

It is about five thirty Saturday afternoon as I type this. As anyone who has not spent he last two days in a full coma can tell you, word leaked out that an "Agreement" had been reached among the Congressional Democrats, a few GOP stragglers in congress and McFlightSuit.

Unless you've been in sensory deprivation for the last two days, you know that there have been howls from the left and right, within and without congress, about the "Agreement". Great. I'm so happy talk radio has more grist for the melting mike mill.

I would be happy to take a position on this "Agreement" legislation. There is one tiny problem. As of right now, the public can't read it. Hell, the rank and file members of congress don't have it and they're supposed to start debate on it Monday.

Anyway, if this humble blog is going to comment on pending legislation, we'd like to read it first. I hear it's 100 pages. Fine. I can read without moving my lips. All it has to be is posted. As of this moment it's not. Why would that be? It couldn't be that it is being redrafted in response to the bipartisan uproar that is unfolding as the weekend progresses, could it?

This made me curious and I did a little more internet research and learned that some members are a little unhappy that they have no text to review. Imagine that! If you google something like "actual text immigration reform legislation Kennedy," you can get--zowie!--the actual text of Teddy's and Shrub's excellent remarks about whatever it is that they agreed to.

Ya know, I'd just as soon read it for myself. After all the little hummers in the USAPatriot Act and the Bankruptcy reform act, I think actual analysis is better than taking Washington assurances "dont' worry, be happy!"

So for now, I'll talk about it after I've read it, thank you.

What to do about this bill? I have signed petitions, called my representatives (unfortunately, one is Harry Reid) and written letters. This thing just keeps going forward - Teddy and his pals pay no attention to the wants of the American people. He has a safe seat in Mass, and feels no need to respond to the people unless they are illegial immigrants.

Kind of my point, the first step would be to read it instead of relying on other people's description of what's in it. I haven't checked today. Dianne Feinstein said it was "Put out" last night so maybe it's available on the web today.

Anyhow, my biggest concern is how we identify the applicants and background check them for criminality. I think we already have enough rapists and armed robbers without legitimizing more.

This type of behavior is typical of our government. After all, our legal system is based on the romans way of thinking (Latin legal terms, etc...) Plus the fact that we are a country that was built by the enslavement of one race and the annihilation of another. Some things people never change...because that's the way they've always done it.

We have sincerely earned and will continue to earn our enemies.

A question Americans need to ask themselves is why do Latin Americans want to come here? The number one reason is because it sucks to live in Latin America. The opportunity for a better life is here. Part of this immigration package needs to address some sort of aid to make Latin Americans want to stay in Latin America. Of course we can't afford this because of Iraq. So we can't repel the invasion of illegal immigrants. I would look for this legislation to go the same route as No Child Left Behind. We all remember Teddy and W. shaking hands and congratulating one another for their great contribution to education. Our schools are no better and our children no smarter. How much testing of illegals will this new bill require? Will it be funded. Will it be funded by the $5,000 fine levied on each illegal? Perhaps the illegals can put the fine on the credit cards they were issued by U.S. Bank. A boon for the economy. It's time to move forward.

Tookie Baby: My call is for more to be done to help make Latin America a place that Latin Americans want to stay. We could afford this were it not for Iraq. We need to worry about our hemisphere. Terrorism is not just limited to the Middleast. The conditions are ripe for it to breed in latin America. There are a billion people their with the Rio Grande standing in the way of us. Let's make friends before they become enemies.
