CONTINUING WITH MY SUNNY DISPOSITION PHASE....

...It is my belief that Summer Sweet Corn is one of the ways God shows himself to us. Where else could such perfection come from?

Tomatos.

Fresh ripe tomatos.

A sprinkling of pepper, or a smidge of salt, or a tiny smear of mustard, or the smallest dollop of mayo (or miracle whip), or just plain; sliced or diced or whole like an apple...

Tomatos. I live for the summer so I can get 'em fresh and tasty, not like the tasteless cardboard pre-processed crap you get the rest of the year at the grocery store.

Tomatoes and sweet corn.

Great food for the August 1-14 Orthodox Christian Dormition Fast (that's the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary for you Roman Catholics and all the rest :).

Yum!

Now I'm confused. Is it a "Fast" or a "Feast"?

Or maybe you just move faster because you're on you're way to a fest.

Doctor, I get these terrible headaches!

It's a fast through the 14th (although it's really abstinence rather than a fast), and then the feast of the Assumptiom/Dormition on Aug. 15th.

Is it really fasting if you are taking almost sinful pleasure in eating the fresh sweet corn and tomatoes?
