THE $24,000.00 YAWN

Rupert and his pals are ripping on the Obama's date to NYC and the cost thereof.

A pimpy, low blow.

Now for those of you who haven't picked up on yet. This is one democrat blog which doesn't particularly fancy Obama as a Kool Aid flavor. There is a lot to criticize in this whirlwind first hundred plus days. Have at it!

But not a night out with his wife in one our nation's great Cities. For 8 years, I never saw even the MoveOns criticize the trips to Tallahassee, Houston, Arlington, Kennebunkport, Denver or Midland and they shouldn't have. Do we want our president more in the bubble than he already is? We take somebody into that office knowing that the cost of getting him out and about is hugely magnified. The date cost 24K. So what? Is it NetFlix or Nuthin'?

Silly argument.

Taking everything into account, I heard it was more like $240,000 ... but I still basically agree, anything the prez' does would cost a lot.

On the other hand, if everyone else is cutting back, it might be a little "showy" to head off to NYC. Maybe he is trying to encourage everyone to "go shopping" and spend more.

It is also good Obama enjoys stopping traffic to enjoy a good hamburger with his buddy Biden. At least he hasn't gone vegan over concern that cow gas will cause more global warming. Moooove On may disagree.

Kind of like all the city workers going and playing golf after they were just voted raises by aldermen who got beat just a few weeks prior. Actually, not really the same at all. He is the pres afterall. The golfing was wrong, not the golfing. Golfing in itself is good. Well, you get it.

Hey, Obama is a Marxes scumbag.
But he can take his wife out for a
Show and drinks, and that's ok with me.

Bush the 1st, was photographed riding in his Cigarette during the 1st gulf war.

The Prez can do whatever he wants.

Bush the 1st lost, perhaps Obamagod the 1st will lose in 3 and 1/2 years due to his arrogance also.

OB,

I think you mean "Marxist".

"Marxes" means Groucho, Harpo (Which, of course, is "Oprah" spelled backwards) and Zeppo.

You raise an interesting point about "spending down" popularity. Your scenario is not impossible.

How could you forget Chico Marx?!

"Atsa badda ting yu did!"

I may or may not agree with the current Prez, but what is he supposed to do? Hunker down in the White House and never go out because "it costs taxpayers too much"?

The gripers should try that for a year or two and tell me how it works out for them.

It is expensive for the President to go anywhere. Fact of life. Get over it. Cost of doing business.

Granted that assumes "normal" travel frequency. I'd feel differently if he was trying to do this every night and bill the people.
