WHAT'D HARRIS DO?
I've read the charge/affidavit. I'd rather be Harris' Defense Lawyer than Blago's.
Looks to me like the evidence to date is just Harris thinking out loud about ways the Governor might benefit from a series of circumstances. Unless Harris did something to make those things happen, he's not guilty of any crime. Thinking, generally speaking, is not a crime. Talking about "what ifs", generally speaking, is not a crime.
And, No, I don't know Harris. I'm just looking at the affidavit.

If you've got a specific complaint about a public official's integrity, identify it, source it and perhaps we can discuss it. You can stay as anon as you want but you have to do better some than some mystery meat conclusion.

Good to have you back. No, actually, it's not at all like that. It's a dumbed-down explanation of the established legal principle called ".....act in furtherance..." of a conspiracy. A conspiracy must always be more than thinking and more than talking. Somebody must do something to move the football. After somebody does any small thing to move the football, then a whole new principle sets in called "...Timely withdrawal..."
Read the affidavit. You can click on it through any almost any Illinois Daily's website. See if you can see where Harris did anything but think and talk. That doesn't mean the Gov't doesn't have more. It's just an interesting legal issue.

That's why we have campaign disclosure laws in Illinois. So people can make perfectly lawful political arguments like you just made.
Then the public gets to decide what the impact of that information is. The anon compared a local official to Blago who was clearly not talking about any benefit that would have been publicly disclosed.
And, of course, you understand that we can't rec'v accounting services and audit services from the same firm since EnRon, so we're always gonna have multiple accountants. And I know you know how many RPE Engineering firms there are in town.

UMR, I understand you being specfic and you are correct. But as a taxpayer who is tired of being ripped off I'm all for the firing squad and then you lawyers can sort out the details afterwards. These two guys are dirty, everyone knows they have been dirty for a very long time and I just want to see someone with balls slay one of them.
I believe if taxpayers don't see someone punished for ripping off the system soon, we are goin gto have some serious trouble in the streets of this country.
