QUINCYFORUMS: SOME GUYS ARE HARD TO HELP

It appears QF is having a hard time. In an effort to help him, I was gonna link him. I wanted to leave a comment on the Forum to tell him I was doing so.

To do that, I had to register. Fair enough. I already have about a thousand accounts and passwords. Another one would be no harm. The process is simple but..........It's not automated. The Administrator must turn the key BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN LEAVE HIM A SUPPORTIVE MESSAGE. That'll keep out Osama and Pee Wee Herman

Anyhow, maybe later with the link. Here's the tedious welcoming email. I will now breathlessly wait for the admissions committee to deliberate. My grades were good, my LSAT High and I was on the Student Council.

Sheesh!

"Your account is currently inactive, the administrator of the board will need to activate it before you can log in. You will receive another email when this has occured.

Please do not forget your password as it has been encrypted in our database and we cannot retrieve it for you. However, should you forget your password you can request a new one which will be activated in the same way as this account.

Thank you for registering."

I appreciate your help. The reason I have it set that way is because we were having a problem with spammers, given the chance to look over the account before I activate has 100% reduced the spam. Before, spammers would sign up and post porn and drug ads, given the slight inconvenience I think most would prefer to now have a porn riddled board when trying to discuss issues in Quincy. I'm also to activate accounts nearly immediately. I hope you enjoy QuincyForums.com and I really appreciate you helping us out.

The Keypad is enough to defeat most spammers.

I think I'll leave this post up to enlighten folks as to how hard you are trying.

I'll get you linked when I'm not cross-eyed tired.

Your concept is sound.

Best Wishes and TYFCB

umrblog- I also thought the keypad was enough, but turns out a lot of people in canada and russia really want to spam their sites. This is the only way i've found from preventing spam from actually being posted. Its a very small inconvenience to be able to be spam free. I also want to thank you and everyone else who has helped to get the word out. Thanks again.

FWIW, I get about a spam per week at my Moderating box. Most of them are pimping blogs, not porn, but they are clearly auto-sends.

Anyhow, Godspeed.
