UNITED STATES COAST GUARD: KEEPING SHORES SAFE.....

.......Uh, that is the shores of freaking Guatemala!

Does it occur to anybody else that Coast Guard Personnel might be helpful in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio right now?

Anyway, a sub full of coke....Wonder if Jim Fitch knows about this. Maybe they'd let him go back to Pepsi.

Literalist 1113,

This was an overview about anticipatory deployment. Kind of like placing two sevenths of our nuclear submarine capability next door to Iran.

We only have so many assets. Where do we place them.

1430,

It was headed for willing, eager noses in American Cities, folks who voluntarily put themselves in harms way. In the short term, I'd rather see help for the involuntarily troubled and, to do that, deploying has to anticipate a certain number of water disasters.

The U.S. Military has already told us it is short personnel and equipment. We can't police Iraq and Korea at the same time. What about that would lead me to believe the CG could police the entire Ocean surface?

TYFCB. Excellent point.
