THE "IN SHAPE GUY" THEORY IS AS WRONG IN TULSA AS IT WAS IT PITTSBURGH

The conventional wisdom is that a hefty guy can't win the PGA Championship at Tulsa because it's so hot there. Nonsense. All these players walk at least 108 holes a week and beat hundreds of balls. They're accustomed to the heat. They know how to hydrate.

Tim Herron, Billy Mayfair, Monty could all win.

I'm not saying an "in shape" player won't win but don't bet the ranch against someone who can fade a tee shot and make mid-range putts on relatively flat greens.

The "conventional wisdom" is often wrong.

You gotta root for ole JD. Here is guy that seems to have every vice KNOWN TO MAN and is still in contention, at least on Thursday. Saturday may be a differant story, as may be # 2 on Friday (or # 1, for that matter) LOL Gives hope to all of us who have a few bad habits! LOL I hope he wins. And besides, from what I hear, he really needs the money, bad.

An added thought - When Joe Namath retired, the reporters asked him
" Do you ever think what you could have done with two good knees?" his response was "I would have been killed in Vietnam." He was declared 4F by his draft board due to the condition of his knees.
I remember this when I think about John and his career.
