KENNY'S GONNA START WATCHING OUR BORDERS. GOLLY, THANKS KENNY

Just heard Hulshof's paid advertising. Kenny, I'm so pleased you're gonna clean up the immigration mess. Who's been in charge of the congress during your time there? What took so long for the light bulb to go on?

This has nothing to do with the thread, but Tony, could you help me with some questions for the treasurer's race? I have asked other democrats over at the Oracle, and nobody can answser my questions:

Can anyone tell me what Lisa actually plans to do once she is elected?

I mean, I hear her ads, and I think it is great that she is married, has two kids, and worked in an office for years, but what about the office she is running for? What specifically does she plan on doing? And why should we oust the current office holder? What would she have done different in the previous 4 years that Jean did?

Can anyone answer these questions for me??

Anon 1957,

First, let me agree with your implicit point that a challenger must give the electorate reasons to make a change.

Lisa was very slow doing that. BUT...she has now done it. She would staff the taxpayer assistance desk. This would allow particularly elderly taxpayers to do in one stop what they now have to do in three. It is a flaw in the current operation of the Treas. Office. Unfortunately, something that should have been POUNDED since Columbus Day has just come out in the last business week.

In most cases, that could be fatal. In Lisa's case, the rules may not apply. She has such a dazzling personality and is so energetic that her "Student Council" election approach may just be enough in a very low turnout election.

Your implicit criticism of her non-substantive campaign seems to me to be facially valid but you feature your best weapon and her best weapon was her personality.

Jean woke up and went nuts on network TV with an ad that gets attention. With Lisa already fighting an uphill battle, that's tough to overcome.
