LOCAL REPUBLICANS MOVE INTO "PLAY IT AGAIN PORN"
The Adams County Republican Central Committee has selected a building in the 4500 block of Broadway. This from the party that has blasted the last three democratic mayors for alleged insufficient support of the Historic District (downtown to you conventional thinkers).
More interesting. This buidling used to house a "Play it again Sports" franchise. "Play it again" is a nice theme for the Flat Earth Party.
Finally, in the piece de la Resistance, the pachyderms are officing in where one of their featured members used to distribute "adult" material. Hope nobody returns a DVD through the drop box-- in a plain brown wrapper.
Anyhow, the "Tracy" signs look real fine in there. All of you downtown businessmen go by and take a look. See how the Local GOP feels the vital exchange of ideas doesn't happen in the part of town where Lincoln and Douglas debated.
And to you GOP volunteers, do count your walk-ins.
What the Hell are they thinkin'?

Perhaps they wanted easier access to Santino's.
Lootster,
Perhaps but it was a GOP elected official who profited from it. He said he took it out after his own daughter started working in the store. I've always loved that one! It's perfectly OK for other people's daughters to have to work around it and its afficianadoes but not HIS daughter.
Also, how can this Chairman go OUT THERE, given the importance to his family of the Historic District. WOW! What a slap.
Drew,
That would be a valid reason, at least.

I hate to agree with UMRBLOG on this one but I have to in good conscious. This move is pretty bad on the Repubs part especially when you consider the great job and all the hard work Carol does promoting the downtown district.
;)
Yeah, the porn shop will be a big hit with all the good church-going folks in the county.
Lootie,
You get what pops into my head that day. Don't want to be a one trick pony.
If you still have any influence I would encourage you to make this the centerpiece of the Scholz campaign replacing Medicaid reimbursement. It worked well for your party when you tried to beat a quality person by labeling him a porn merchant. Hey, what the hell, if you can't win on the issues. Now the strategy is to attack the building. The next thing you know...you'll bring in Durbin.
The version of how the adult material came out of that person's video stores is not mine. It's his (on the Mary Griffith Show). It's OK for other people's daughters to have had to deal with it but not his.
As I have noted endlessly, I never get anybody else's talkng points and I never try to commit any journalism here.
It happened that I was doing a little business at the finest mobile phone store in the entire universe and I chanced to look across the street and see what had to be the absolutely worst headquartering idea in the world. I couldn't even concentrate on my phone features (867 of them, of which I know how to use three and I'm closing in on the fourth.) I laughed out loud and it ruined my whole cell phone tutorial.
My former site is still accessible on line. Go find where I said anything negative about your pal. It's not there.
"Can't win on the issues"....like there were freaking burning issues in a Circuit Clerk's Election. As Circuit Clerk's elections almost always are, it was a Student Council election between two presentable candidates and the one whose "war president" was running for reelection won. That was sure a big upset.
As for running against a building, righty blogosphere has been teeing up Scholz and Spring for some time for encouraging Broadway locations to the detriment of HBD. This is just a funny way for the GOP to show support for the Central Business District. The Dirty Movies and the "Play it Again" were just seasoning.
One sometimes effect way to deal with an apt argument is to attempt to trivialize it. Nice try.

What hacks off this right leaner is the "Family Video" sells porn. What up with that? They have a lotta nerve callin themselves "family video" & sell porn there also. Didn't we make a 5th St. joint go through a major change in latitude over this issue in the early 80's? How times change. In Brando's voice: The Irony, The Irony! We'll have to put Fallwell on their case. Lootie, it's in your hood, bust em out!
