TOOK THIS DOWN FOR A WHILE TO PROMOTE UNITY BUT OUR "SISTER SITE" THINKS UNITY IS A HIGH SCHOOL
ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO EXPLAIN HOW SUNDAY'S POSTS RELATED TO EACH OTHER--AND TO ALL OF US

On Sunday, I purposely moved the "de-linked" thread up next to the "up or down together" thread. In so doing the point I was trying to make had nothing to do with whether my site has lots of links to it. The placement of those threads was to make the point that democrat/progressives had nothing to fear from free speech and differing thoughts and that two democrat sites, even if disagreeing on a primary, could support each other by linking. Fear of speech is one of the most anti-democratic things we can project. Failure to work together is a good way to ruin a party. Ask the American Whig party. It blew up in the 1850's because they wouldn't hang together.

So, Nicky, my pal, it is not "beneath" me to argue that U/G made a grievous error when they linked me and then struck the link simply because they didn't like some of my thoughts. It is a fundamental part of who I am as a democrat Promoting the Marketplace of Ideas is not beneath anybody. It's a principle of governance. This is way beyond personalities.
If we really fear hearing other thoughts, maybe we're truly not about any great democrat principles. If it's just about worshipping at the right barstool, then we're going to have problems. If it's only about saying things that don't make our old line friends uncomfortable, what good is that?
BTW, you don't hear me barking about QP not linking us. It's what I expect from the narrow bandwidth party, but not from my democrat brothers and sisters.

THE ORACLE WILL NOW SPEAK:
My election prognostication is on open thread. What I now impart to you is other particles of wisdom regarding this campaign.Chief Republican, Larry Ehmen, will rue the day he supported Volm because he supports good government. When he and his followers discovered he could not appoint Volm as the Republican candidate for Clerk/Recorder they sighed a collective "oh sh t."
Their efforts to help Volm through the Democratic Primary only helped Carper. Tony Camerons choice to support Volm will not haunt him for long. The Adams County Democratic Party is his home. There are few who have done more to support it. Tony will come back and the Party will be glad to have him. Chief Democrat Verne Hagstrom showed wisdom and patience by not endorsing either candidate. The true test of his leadership will be how Democrats do this November.
He overcame many obstacles to be elected Alderman and Mayor. He will rise to this challenge.

Fireball 845,

In the ultimate Coupie Duh Grass, so does QP.

I guess democrats are telling their children looking at our site will make them go blind but Republicans are willing to let them do it just until they need glasses.

Thank you for remaining in the spirit of the Railsplitter, Abraham Linkin'.

Man, whoever calls himself the O word hasn't studied much history as to what becomes of O's. Not a job description I want.

Verne Hagstrom has been underestimated by his opposition since he came to Quincy. He's got a hell of a work ethic and is still the best I know at precinct level organizing. Now he's got a lot people who want to learn that skill and I'm sure he'll teach them. If you do a precinct right, half the work is already done by election afternoon. Most folks don't know how to do that or lack the discipline for it. Verne has that skill and can teach it.

If he emphasizes his best skill, we will do well in the Fall. First, we have to find a worthy opponent for Brother Tenhouse, of broom closet fame.

Thanks for coming by.
