MOVED UP--DELINKED DAY EIGHT SPECIAL "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, IGNORE IT" EDITION -- A GAG REFLEX IN THE FREE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS

In democrat politics, one either believes in the free exchange of ideas or one doesn't. Apparently the blog supporting the challenger for County Clerk doesn't.

You may recall they voluntarily linked us at an early stage of their development. After a little technical difficulty, we also linked them (we try to link as many schools of thought as our day job permits). As of about four Saturday afternoon (first time I noticed, anyway), we have been "unlinked". What was there for them to fear from another progressive, local site?

What an interesting and lame gesture.

IF A DEMOCRAT SPEAKS THE UNSPEAKABLE--SUPPORT OUR INCUMBENT--THE SOURCE MUST BE BANISHED.

c&p = "cut and paste" (usually describes the technique of lifting or linking with attribution and some comments. It is a difficult technique to bring off without becoming "robosite" but you do it well).

u/m = unmoderated.

m = Oh,well, you already guessed it.

I appreciate the give and take here. The underground eliminates my posts almost immediately for no good reason. Perhaps they don't think Ed Husar is a god? I don't know. Just a guess.

I also appreciate the link, however, The Quincy Dump is not cut and paste site.

Edisaurus Rex,

When I put your link up, it was pretty much c&p. Next time I'm in my templates, I'll remove that designation. MSBP story won me over--that was commentary. I guess you don't think Matt is a God.

Stay between the tornadoes.

ehig,

Loved the story about the "pay for play" piece. Gotta give that some mature thought. I understand it appears to violate the regs but I didn't see it and don't want to make a judgment about whether it was transparent enough.

I have cured your link and agree with your characterization as non-c&p, not that c&p is a pejorative.

Josephus,

I guess the tornadoes damaged the free marketplace of ideas. Once again, there is a linkage gap.

China does something like this, but that's another story.

You can view it online at this address:

The link is good until Thursday.

Then WGEM has pulled it off the net since I saw it. And they probably "lost" the archive tape of the newscast as well.

That should tell you something. Try ordering a copy of the newscast and see what you're told.

This is the live at five link. It's still good.

God 512

I meant it wasn't transparent enough, not that it wasn't there. I watched it all. It worked well, too.

And "not transparent" means that a reasonable person watching the news that night would not have known, because they were not informed, that the phone-a-thon segment was indeed a paid advertisement?

EHIG,

Actually, in practice, the test is not "reasonable person". It's "reasonable moron". Sublety is not rewarded.
