MICHIGAN BIBLE STUDY

I'm having a difficult time locating the biblical command to kill a cop to prove I'm on "The side of Jesus."

A suspicious person would consider this might be a Janet Reno like raid intended to distract from the health care deform fiasco, and to help frame "Christians" as dangerous and whacky.

A Muslim Obama donor was arrested for threatening a Republican, so they needed a big story to counter that.

The Hutaree website sounds more like they are interested in being prepared for the anti Christ ... who knows if they were really planning to murder cops.

Even if they had word directly from God that the anti Christ was here ... that seems like bad strategy. Word was they somehow thought this would spark a national offensive.

But maybe they just fit the narrative for the media and Janet ... so they were thrown under the bus.

Yeah, I figure the progression will be an oblique reference to Elian Gonzales, followed by discussion of the Soviet's attempt to attain control of our precious bodily fluids, followed by a "Cave Gap".

That is the most entertaining conspiracy theory I've heard since Oliver Stone taught us that JFK was killed by a conspiracy involving the mafia, the military-industrial complex, the CIA, the FBI, the Dallas PD, the Cubans, the Soviets, LBJ, and the homosexual community of New Orleans.

Oh dear anon 7:55, just when I thought I had topped out my quota of frickin' wackos, you came along and reminded me there is always room for one more. Thank you so much.

You forgot D.B. Cooper and the Tri-Lateral Commission

Janet Reno is a nice throwback reference too. First Pearl Jam puts out an album, then the Michigan Militia folks start running through the woods, and now we're getting quality Janet Reno conspiracies. Do I smell a Pauly Shore movie on the way?

He'd have to do a kids movie. It worked for Eddie Murphy...I'm thinking the plot would be Red Dawn meets The Mighty Ducks.

I'm 7:55, and am not defending these guys, or any militia ... but surely you must recognize the timing.

If you really think our dear gov' is pure, you must also believe Obama has not lied to us about anything ...

I guess it just IS a matter of the definition of the word IS/

You guys really think the media has no bias, and Obama has no interest in playing the news cycle?

Of course Russia never printed any propaganda ... Gore's BS movie is all factual ... and Obama hasn't put self declared communists in his administration.

Oh .. and there is no crime in the Chicago machine, and lawyers are all pure and would never sell out to criminal power players.

Sorry, I haven't had my dose of "cognitive dissonance" today.

I have no idea what this group was planning, and I am not a Christian that thinks at all like them ... but if you do not notice the timing, you must be delusional.

But UMR, if you look at the OT, you will find plenty of destruction of the "unbeliever", so destruction of "innocents" is well established in YOUR Bible.

... and if you look at Muslims, you will find a lot of brutal conquering in the name of Mohammed ...

Or is this just a thread supporting Obama's heavy handed actions? CAT and DE and ATT are all liars to be chastised in public for saying his health care plan will cost trillions and hurt employment.

I don't know about the tri-lateral commission or CFR ... but surely the 600 trillion in unregulated derivatives is a conspiracy theory as well ... or at least we hope it is.

And the bailout of the rich that were leveraged 300:1 is just a spoof believed only by morons ... no government would do that. And Goldman Sachs has no leverage inside our government ... that's just crazy talk.

But it is OK we murdered all those folks at WACO ... you people are just fine with that?

OK, kiddies, let's review the bidding.

I raised an issue about the biblical support for violence against peace officers. Never said the G was trustworthy or expressed any opinion about anybody's guilt.

Anyone who knows me, knows what I think about Gov't agencies being truthful.

One doesn't have to believe that any party or any ruling class is always trustworthy to point out that a concept is weird.

On second thought, dear anon, I think you may be on to something. As you say, it's all in the convenient timing....and if you do not notice the timing, you must be delusional, as you so accurately put it.

First, the darn health care bill passes. Then, eleven Mennonites are squashed by a truck driver. And to cap it all off, a conference of prominent Muslim scholars declares "the entire world a place of tolerance and peaceful co-existence between all religious, groups and factions," according to Reuters. Ignore the fiendish connection at your peril.

Time for me to go back to The Da Vinci Code now.

Here is the follow up article in the WSJ

Looks like one nut that even scared off other militia types. Glad I could spice up this post a little, since "yeah, what a nut" was less thought provoking. :)

I still haven't seen anything stating he was ready to kill a cop, but listening to recent Big Media stories, you would suspect he represents most TEA party types.

Who knew that in West Central IL saying that Christian jihad was wrong would be a controversial opinion! In terms of the conspiracy folks out there on the left and the right, I'd take the time to check out this book

Not wrong ... boring ... my point was that Obama does play the news cycle. Dumping bad news on weekends is another example.

I also was the only one to address the actual post ... there is plenty of killing of "innocents" in the Bible. Much less of it in the epistles I suppose ... but "true believers" might think there actually could be an anti-Christ and a violent end times.

Of course killing cops for Jesus sounds pretty silly, but the Bible has some pretty radical times predicted. Today's Christianity is more of a kinder and gentler version than the OT and Revelation would indicate.

The churches perform a sound social function, but I gave up on finding the whole Truth there. Take it too literally and you might end up in a militia.

There were a LOT of "prophetic" books written in the first three centuries after Christ. When the councils decided what books would go into the New Testament (inspired by the Holy Spirit, but not written by Him in some bizarre ghost-writing way), they did not choose ANY of the prohpetic books--not even Revelation, which has NEVER been accepted as canonical by virtue of a council of the church, only by virtue of inclusion by growing numbers of local churches in the period of the nine Ecumenical Councils (through about 900 AD).

Most of those prophetic books can still be found and read, albeit in old 19th century translations that can be tough to stomach. I suggest The Shepherd of Hermas, quite interesting especially when juxtaposed with St. John's Revelation.

Also while there may will a person Anti-Christ in the future, anti-christ actually exists in every single human heart, and is shown forth in pretty much every generation.

All of which has nothing to do with UMR's initial posting.

BTW, nothing in the various "unchosen" texts that didn't make it into the Bible seems to condone "killing cops for Jesus" either. Or tries to hang consipracy theories on various events.

For what it's worth. :)

14:47 .. you mean the "conspiracy theory" that Obama may time events to help his news cycle, or that the little militia was actually going to kill cops? :)

I don't think each individual is said to have an "anti-Christ" in their heart, according to the Bible.

They have "sin nature" .. "Oh wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from this body of death". That is imperfection, not demonic, as I understand it. In some circles that would be an important distinction.

You can dump Revelation or other books if you want, the OT is well established and was violent and foretells a more violent time of judgment ahead, as do the gospels.

But I think Bullinger and many would call this "the age of grace", which would probably negate any cop killing mandates the militia thought they found in the gospels.
