ROVER'S UPCOMING ROAD TRIP

Karl Rove will not be charged criminally by the Republican Special Prosecutor. The SP could not prove whether Karl actually lied about not talking to Matt Cooper or whether his memory is just that bad. As evidence of his bad memory, Karl would be able to offer the facts that he forgot to graduate from college and that he completely forgot about when Colin Powell told him and the president that invading Iraq was a bad idea and that, if they insisted on doing it anyway, something more like 225,000 troops was the "overwhelming force" ticket.

Does anybody really think that it's a coincidence that Karl's non-charge comes out the day President Bush does his "secret" trip to Iraq? About as much as I believe OJ's out looking for the "real killer".

In probably July, on a slow news day, Karl will announce he's leaving the White House because he "Wants to spend more time with his family". When that happens, think "deal". Karl leaves public life and no charges are filed.

Karl's not going to leave public life. As much as the Dems would love to see his demise, he will be around for a long time.

I still don't understand the Dem's facination with Rove, it is not like he is any different than Dick Morris or Bob Shrum.

He won't stop being a "public figure" but he won't be on the public's payroll by Labor Day,if not sooner.

He's way different from Shrum. Shrum's never been anything more than an ad-weenie. He's like Morris in that he keeps his president's brain in a jar on the coffee table in his office. He's very unlike Morris in that he maintains a base inside the administration. Nobody has ever sustained that for this period of time, not even the remarkable Thurlow Weed.

No, Rove has been different. In some ways, more skillful. I guess I would argue he was more focused and the nuances of governing. Most people who tried to that from within the WH, after they came from a campaign perspective couldn't sustain it. Usually, they went crazy (Stephanopoulos, Jordan).

I agree he'll be "around" for a long time but I think he'll no longer be a federal employee.

Thanks for coming by.

Don’t hate the player. Hate the game.

Great Point. I don't hate him but I am getting worn out on the game.

I think the hardest thing to do is is well represent an incumbent president while actually serving in his White House. Rove has done it better, longer than anyone else.

The fifth time a guy gets called back to the grand jury, though, it's probably time for private sector employment.

Thank you for coming by
