ILLINOIS 17TH CONG. DISTRICT: ZINGA STILL TONE DEAF AND JUNK YARD DOG MEAN

A recent comment urged me to abandon calling Zinga "Wicked Witch of the North". I was considering it when WWN reappeared in Quincy yesterday.

She seemed a little dyspeptic about the fact that "political bosses" had selected Phil Hare. The unspoken selection was that her candidacy was legitimate and Hare, selected by the Statutory process, was not. First, I wonder if whe checked with Jil Tracy about that. Tracy was selected by True Political bosses, County Chairmen, not committeemen.

Second, I wonder if WWN is suggesting that the dem. party should have simply abandoned the process required by the Illinois Statutes and made up some kind of unsanctioned general election. That would have been interesting. The GOP insiders would have been tripping over one another to get to court to take our candidate off the ballot as illegitimate.

Finally, if WWN thinks elected precinct committement are "Political Bosses" and therefore to be dumped on, I wonder how that makes the republican precinct committement throughout the district feel. If committemen are some lower life form whose decisions should be suspect, then one would suppose that applies to commiteemen of both parties.

Memo to GOP committemen: Remember this when WWN sends you yard signs to put up, bumper stickers to put on vehicles and postcards to send to your friends.

I really didn't think it was possible to be thicker than Mark Baker, but she is well on her way to pulling it off.

Wonder how Mr. Ehmen will take this criticism from Zinga over his choice of "666".

Even "666" has to be a bit upset with the WWN.

Hope Larry don't come down with some life threatening illness or he is in real trouble with a combinaton of Zinga and "666".

*shakes head*

;)

p.s. sorry can't resist calling her "666" after her choice in announcement dates!

Some of Ms. Tracy's family lives in the 17th CD, too.

Thank you for coming by.

And had Zinga actually said Hare's selection was not legitimate, you might have a point. What she was saidto have said was:

"She points out that she was selected by voters, while Democrat party bosses threw their weight behind Hare."

Which they did. If your remember at the beginning of this process everyone thought the Chairmen would decide, including this blog. Turns out Evans hadn't done his homework. You surely don't still believe the plan was not to bypass the pesky voters so Evans could appoint his successor just one week after the primary, do you? Turns out they just had to work a little harder. Telling
Durbin to stay out of it, Emil and the Unions putting the smack down district wide.

To suggest that Zinga critized the selection process of Jil Tracy is like accepting as a given that half of the US Senators are aliens and now we're just arguing about which planets they are from.

I had beem an active union member, a president, as a matter of fact, and would have never considered myself a "boss". A leader, or a representative, perhaps, but not a "boss".

I resent those who spout derogatory terms about their opponents, Ms. Zinga, and that might, also include this blog, with it's WWN. STOP the name calling and stick to the issues.

Dave,

She brought up the "Party Bosses" because she thought it reflected badly on Hare's nomination and well on hers. If it's negative for Hare, it's at least as negative for Tracy. No amount of parsing the term "legitimate" changes that. What Lane Evans or anybody else had in mind really doesn't bear much on Zinga's remarks.

Thank you for coming by. Appreciate your participation.

Anon 0729,

As a general rule, I agree with your concept. Zinga is just so naturally Junk Yard Dog Mean, she's earned the nickname. Still, when she talks about issues instead of labels like "Boss," we'll follow suit.

Thank you for coming by. We'll try to be worthy of your call for civility.

The two situations were different, but I can see you chosse not to see it that way. Most won't see it as criticism of the Chairmen's choice as they were left holding the bag so to speak. Both processes followed the statutes, one was determined before the incumbent announced resignation. That's what she's saying.

Scholz's appointment followed the same process as Jil's, kind of, Zero sum.

That being said, it would be an uphill battle for Zinga if Satan himself was on the Democratic ticket.

Dave,

"Party Bosses" is either a bad thing or it's not. I take your point but I think you're giving her way too much credit for layered thinking.

Here's something we can agree on: The current 17th CD is a an abomination, not compact, not contiguous and it can't be blown up soon enough to promote representative government.

Unfortunately, that won't be till '12.

Again, Thanks for joining in here.

loot-em-ups,

The TV graphics would be interesting. Just have to engineer their way around the correct Dog World term for a female. Could be a slippery slope.

Can't make the blues tonight but have a good time.
