HARE: FAIR AND SQUARE, HE'S THERE
It's Hare. UMRBlog has absolutely no problem supporting him wholehearedly.
I feel for the other fine candidates, especially my buddy, John Sullivan, but the race was a credit to all who entered. The party and the district are better for all of your efforts. Thank You!
I'll write more about the campaign between Phil and the Wicked Witch of the North later.

Lootie uses the language elegantly once again.
Just heard a cool parody song on the radio, to the tune of Beatles "All You Need is Love", it went "All You Do is Blog". Funny lyrics. "Nothing you can slam that hasn't been slummed, etc...."
Not related, but the cand had to be from RI/Moline anyway.

Tony- I read the blog often, and normally you sound like a pretty reasonable guy, perhaps nitpicky at times, but reasonable none the less.
But what's with the hate of Andrea Zinga? I am no fan of hers by any means, but "Wicked Witch of the West?" It seems to me like thats the kind of politics a person like you wouldn't practice.
Rise above that and start talking as to why you don't like her...

Perhaps a fair point. I have before and will again dissect her positions. Still, I use "WWN" as a kind of shorthand, just like I frequently refer to Topinka as "Spike".
I cannot forget her '04 announcement speech where she essentially said "Vote for me because I don't have Parkinson's". She forfeited her right to my usual respectful treatment that moment. OTOH, I'll reconsider my terminology in light of your constructive remarks. Stay tuned.
Count on my explaining my problems with her as time goes on.
You know, the really funny thing is that I know her family and this apple fell a long way from the tree.
Anon 0718,
I heard it last week. Funny lyrics and pretty good production values.
Thanks.

How do you think Sullivan will react to many of his local supporters backing Hare instead of him? I guess their was a story about it in the whig. I realize that is their right but that has to sting.
Anon 0918,
Two things make this really interesting. This is John's first intrparty skirmish. Intraparty stuff is just different. The hurts hurt more. Second, John and his family are acutely aware at all times of who's behind them and who's not. I can't believe he has anything but a long memory.
OTOH, I think he has bigger fish to fry at a high level. It appears to me that some people in high places he thought he could count on turned out to be unreliable. That'll be burned into his memory banks.
Everything I say above is a guess based upon my only experience in intraparty fun and duplicity and my knowledge of John as a tough, standup guy. I could be wrong.....but I doubt it.
I had a long church meeting last night and didn't get to read the paper. I don't know if there was a piece about the local voting.
OTOH, I do know how the lady in QCY 22 voted.
Thank you for coming by with a good point
You might want to check in on your friends on hampshire street and see what kind of mess their arrogance and words have gotten them into again.
;)
p.s. Intelligent ramblings are not their forte. They might want to pick another spokeswoman.
anon 1218,
All democrats are my friends. All I can say about that is I'm very proud of the way my precinct committeeman cast her votes.
Thank you for coming by
Lootmeister,
Count on that I never forget that!
Thanks.
