THEY'RE EVERYWHERE! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!

WEDNESDAY WHIMSY: THEY'RE EVERYWHERE! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!

Took a little road trip today to another county, one that just happens to be in the 17th CD. Now, my purpose was not political and I initiated zero political discussions.

Still, I learned of no fewer than 8 people making phone calls trying to line up the nomination for Lane Evans' seat. Some of these names were amazingly bad choices. Some were excellent but not electable and some were the usual suspects. If I heard this much background noise on an innocent little road trip, I can't imagine the pounding the County Democratic Central Committee Chairmen are taking.

I'm hoping nobody I care about deeply will get into this. If you're running every two years, you're running all the time. When you're not running, you're begging Abrahamoff types for money. It's a Gulag. Leave it to the Blind Ambition types, friends, and enjoy your lives. Potomac fever is hazardous to your health.

When this derby's over, somebody is going to form a new 12 Step program called Cong-anon.

Great compliment to the Wicked Witch of the North, Version 2.0, that these guys are lining up to run against her.

The State Board of Elections is saying the precinct committeeman make the call and the paper had the county chairman do.Do you have any idea how it does play out? We know for sure it's a vote by votes recieved in the primary. We also know the heavy vote is the northern part of the 17th Dist. The numbers don't add up for down state counties having much say.

Back when I was Chair, the Chairs cast a weighted vote. Some convened their Central Committees for guidance, some didn't.

I doubt if the law has changed since then.

It's disappointing to see how this event develops.Lane's committee has been fundraising non-stop all year and I have been receptive to contributing because of his progressive representation. Now it appears that he intended all along to remove himself and choose his own successor. It is our right as active voters to choose our own nominee in the primary.I'm afraid that in my eyes, Lane has diminished his standing as a progressive democrat and looks just like another politician who believes that his agenda is more important than his constituents rights.
