SHORT BREAK AND A THANK YOU

Like Spike's old boyfriend, I'm down the road tomorrow. Probably won't be in front of computer before Thurs. a.m. some time. This means your comments might be stuck for a little while in moderation land. We'll get to them as quickly as we can.

We have had some hot topics up and the comments have been decent. Thank you. I've not had to edit or scratch anything. Your ideas, however contrary to mine they might be, are welcome here. Nobody's profanity, sexual innuendoes or attacks on anybody's character are welcome.

Be patient. I'll get you in.

Thanks for the invite to comment. I hope to be able to contribute in a positive way in the future.Sure wish the underground didn't feel it was necessary to censor comments that were uncomfortable or inconvenient.
I noticed that one of your favorite books was Team of Rivals. After reading it I have new admiration for our President from Illinois and think that there is a lesson in his experience for Adams County Democrats.

There are so many obvious lessons in the Goodwin Book. If my friends in the U/G would read a little bit about how great men like Seward and Chase could put their talents behind a man they felt was a lesser player and literally save the union, they might see where we could turn our party into a force.

The force was so great that even the estimable Stephen A. Douglas recognized it before his untimely death. We could do that, if we'd stop dividing our number up into "real democrats" and whatever the other category is.

I never, for one minute, forget how much some of the people drinking the U/G Kool-Aid mean to me in the RW. If they come a little unhinged in the digital world, I can live with it.

Still, your pointis well taken "Team of Rivals" should be required reading for anyone considering becoming active in politics.

Since I posted you this morning I have found out that several people received a mailer stating that Martha Hess and Missy were convicted criminals. I believe it was Brenda by the number of misspelled words. Would you please do what you can to warn whoever of the legal consequences of these slanderous actions? The worst part is, the mailers contained copies of the dispositions that said dismissed on them. Thank you. Darren

Darren,

I shall. You know I have been begging all of our colleagues for a clean campaign. While I don't excuse anything like this, ever, I'm afraid it is a natural consequence of a campaign based on "charges" instead of ideas.

On that score, I've always tried to be a grown-up in what appears to be a pretty juvenile approach both ways. I hope you will try to encourage an elevated presentation from the Carper supporters as well. Let's work together to stop this downward spiral.

Thanks for letting me know.
