NOTHING SAYS "EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP"....
.....like a screwdriver.

Boy, I'm really having a hard time with this one.
I need to read some more I guess.
OB,
If you're in the KHQA/WGEM viewing area, you'll figure it out.

Bellis had a TV ad during the hoops game last night in which he spoke while holding a screwdriver in his hand. UMR is making fun of him. It seems Mr Cameron thinks a better way to show executive leadership in a political TV ad is to lie about the statewide ranking of the local unemployment rate, take credit for creating jobs that don't exist and suggest that our State Senator is only willing to work for Quincy's interests if John Spring is mayor.
Not making fun of Mr. Bellis. Am making fun of the ad concept. That's a producer thing, not a candidate thing.
A screwdriver, for God's Sake!
TYFCB
And your just peachy with Spring's ad concept of not being truthful?
That would be "you're". (We all do that once in awhile.).
One of the things about authoring a blog is that the bloghost gets to pick the topic. Today it's "screwdriver as prop".
Not exactly the "Laura" HP ad, which is killer.
You guys can handle the truth squad stuff. Let me know how that comes out.
TYFCB
I missed the ad, but if it gets people talking, well, that's what Bellis wants.
Just this week, Spring has started his TV, Radio, and print ads.
Everyone I have seen, rely on the Scholz legacy to make Springs' point.
Scholz isn't mayor anymore. Can't Spring cite anything that he has done, other than get grants for the 20 year away Hydro plant that probably won't ever happen?
Perhaps he could cite the successful resolution of the Fire Dept debacle. Or ignoring Quincy's airport for his DC trip. Or keeping a felon in charge of the IT Dept. Or his membership in the radical, anti-gun group MAIG.
See, there's a lot he's done for Quincy.
You got on a roll there and mistated something. I'm sure it was an honest mistake. There is nobody in the IT Dept. with a felony conviction, thus no "felon".
Not arguing any other point beyond you misstated something.
You're welcome.
TYFCB
Ok, should-be-felon on the payroll
See, this is where ANON is a problem. You provide no reasoning for your position and nobody knows your credentials in the criminal justice system to make a conclusion like that.
"....everybody has one"

Thanks UMR.
Now your going to make me dig. Give me some time. The felony stat, and it's origination is buried somewhere,
I'll be back, - - a little Arnold lingo there.
That didn't take long.
JRG has an excellent search engine.
"Your correct sir". The felony was reduced after he agreed to repay his then employer-Cub Foods- the $300 he stole from them. Kinda like Tim Geithner did after he cheated on his taxes.
Here is the police report on the theft by Murphy
http://www.quincynews.org/assets/files/MurphyArrest.pdf
UMR, thanks for making me go back and re-read that report. I feel relieved the Mayor doesn't have a felon running the IT dept, just a common thief.
I recognize that makes you unhappy but exactly what do you contend should have happened from May 1, 2005 to the present?
Wait, I've got it! That's what the screwdriver is for! Of course, either screw the IT director or stab him, maybe both. What a constructive approach, and original.

Mayor Spring said on WTAD this morning that he has looked into Murphy's past and he's ok with it. That he would hire today even with his past jail stay for stealing money from his employer. That's some admission. And according to Spring the city has now done a background check on this fella.
Anon 1059
And that is responsive to my question exactly how?
TYFCB
UMR,
Hard to converse with you when you won't stay on subject. The bigger picture--is that Spring didn't look into Murphys past, and now just to Cover his A**, is making statements about being OK with an employee who has an unsavory background, that has access to a lot of personal, personnel, information.
I just think that shows Springs lack of ability to deal with criticism, and an arrogance toward those who criticize.
Shows weak character.
What should he have done?
Let him go, or move him out of the sensitive spot when the facts about his arrest came out.
I don't know. What was the question again?
OB 1120,
OK, so your first position is that, upon taking office, the Mayor should have done background investigations on all his holdover department heads?
Let's chew on that one first.
TYFCB
Now UMR ,
some of us know the truth . I will not go in to the truth , but we can agree that both of us know .
The screw driver is a mind puzzle .
Tax payers get "******"
;)
Until I read the comments I figured the Japanese economic minister had been hitting the sauce again
UMR
After much thought, I have re-read your posts, and you have convinced me that Spring is a genius.
Thanks for the enlightenment I shall vote for him.
Umr
Aren't you the homeland security expert for the city? In a post 9/11 world, I'd think you would owe it to the citizens you work for to be a little more concerned about an IT director who plead out of a felony for computer fraud.

Generally speaking, I advise my clients in private but I appreciate your coaching.

Then the mayor either didn't listen to you, or you gave him bad advice. Smart money is on the "didn't listen".
