JUDD SCOPES IT OUT--A LESSON IN "QUICK STUDY"

When it comes to being facile, Judd is.....uh....tall.

He accepts a cabinet post in a democrat administration. Only when he actually goes to the office does the light bulb go off that ......gasp!.....all the undersecretaries are democrats. Who knew?

Then, in his best imitation of Jason Bourne, he masters the turf. It only took him three days to discern that the President's advisors might have something to say about who would occupy high level census positions. I mean, you can't fool Judd, he was on it like a duck on a June bug.

Anyhow, after discovering all this stuff that he couldn't have possibly known any other way, he "unaccepted" the appointment.

A man of great principle, possibly born without nerve endings, utterly devoid of ability to grasp the implications of his acceptance.

Your fact pattern is not accurate. It went a little mote like this.

1. I accept
2. Um, he's an R and we can't trust him, let's change his job description.
3. Take this job and shove it.

It is not true that the Census Bureau has ever been under the direct management of the White House, and for good reason.

Obviously I have no inside information, but from statements made, I get the impression that like so many others, Judd was caught up in all the hopenchange hype.

I think he really DID believe Obama's bipartisan b.s.---also, NH is trending Democrat, so he probably figured this Commerce gig would keep him in DC a while longer.

Allowing hyper-partisan Nancy Pelosi to write the stimulus bill in the dead of night with no GOP imput was probably Judd's first clue that Obama had no intention of doing what he said he would do in the way of bipartisanship. I think the final straw really was Obama's announcement that the census would be moved to the WH---even Karl Rove didn't have the audacity to try that. BTW, this announcement came three days AFTER Judd accepted the nomination and it certainly didn't fit in with Obama's "new politics", unless "new" means politics that are even more partisan, corrupt and venal than before---which so many on the left thought impossible after GWB.

I'm beginning to get the feeling that the entire Executive Branch is being run by Rahm Emanuel, with Obama only being the frontman.

But if Obama really wanted a "bipartisan" cabinet, he should have chosen one of the useless RINOs---Collins, Snowe or Specter, since they would be a better fit and they could at least SAY they were GOPers, even though they vote Democrat.

Picking a conservative like Judd was obviously window-dressing for Obama's stealth plan to give the WH authority over the census---which violates the Constitution.

Obama's even worse than Bush----he's only been in power a few weeks and already Obama's shredding the Constitution!

0639,

You're explaining this to the guy who was in charge of reviewing applications for the 1980 census in this area. I guess that was a Hamilton Jordan impersonator I was talking to.

"Ever" is a long time.

QCE,

Trouble with that reasoning is Pelosi had already done the "no amendments" thing BEFORE Juddster bit the big one.

Trying to game the census for political purposes is just about what we'd expect from this crew. They have talked so long about building a permanent majority, manipulating numbers to perhaps overcount their core constituencies should not be put past them.

If Bush/Rove had dared to do something like this it would have been headline news nationally. As it is, we hear barely a peep from the media and are not likely to in the future.

I can't speak for any year but 1980. The test we administered our field personnel were pretty damn challenging. Won't say we didn't favor democrats for the leadership jobs but the everybody in the saddle had to be very baseline smart and able to apply some relatively sophisticated statistical information.

That included the wife a former Republican Candidate for countywide office.

The point is not to "game" the census. Everybody wants the right number. The point with the Juddster was it took Tinker Bell or something to explain to him that the winning party was going to have a say-so in the selection of non civil service jobs. What a shock!

I don't get your point.

It is unconstitutional for the WH to be involved in the census---it doesn't have anything to do with civil servants and everyone just wants to do a good job, etc. Once the numbers circumvent Commerce and go straight to the WH, it doesn't matter how special all those census takers---even the Republicans are, because the WH will have the ability to screw with the numbers.

The GOP has already said it will take this to court if Obama insists on politicizing the census by taking control of it, and they will probably win, since the Constitution is pretty clear on this.

I must not have been clear in my previous comment that the way Obama (mis)handled the "stimulus" bill was strike 1 for Judd; strike 2 was when he found out Rahm Emanuel would be running the census---Judd didn't wait for confirmation and the third pitch---he was outta there.

Also, since he always paid his taxes in full he wouldn't have been a good fit in the Obama administration anyway---too honest!

Don't think I said anything about the numbers "going to the White House".

The White is involved in selecting the executive leaders of he Census Effort --and the jobs are not Civil Service jobs.

Nothing nefarious about that.

Well, no!

You're too busy trying to figure out how the Alabama Football Program is going to generate enough revenue to pay that ridiculous buyout for the BASKETBALL Coach!

They will attempt to do what the local Dems have done to the city wards. I'm sure you were involved in that as well. Maybe Rahmbo will be enlisting your help this go round.
