A-ROD: GOOD NEWS FOR BASEBALL

Pretty simple. Baseball had no rules. He cheated. Baseball instituted penalties and testing. He probably quit. Not perfect but about the same as the NFL, which has been banning substances since I was about 12.

He didn't point fingers, fail to habla or Duck the question.

Progress.

At least he told the truth. The lying under oath thing, just isn't good.

However, I don't want to see Congress waste one second on performance enhancing drugs in pro sports. Not one second.

I say nobody goes into the Hall that played after 98. Nobody. I say it, and stick buy it. When considering Lance Berkman's recent statements, I think we close the hall. I’ve had it.

Bring on the "it's not fair to the guys that didn't roid" arguments....

Is that your position on Albert Pujols?

Is the presumption of dirtiness more justified by any objective fact than the presumption of "clean"?

Not dissing your point of view, just testing its edges.

I would have to say yes, biggest Card & AP fan in the world here, but I say nobody goes, not trusting anyone, anymore, just like LB said, it's like he read my mind. Just one point of view.

Just seems the *'s have ruined it for everyone. Bonds, A-rod, and Rog, just like someone just said, best 3 in the game recently, all suspect. I think it is ruined for everyone (Hall of Fame). Also mentioned recently the "chicks dig the long ball" mentality (and ad campign, put on by who? MLB, no!)

I fell for it, H, L, & S, back in 98. But millions were made, so I guess all is well.

Going against the "never argue w/ a lawyer, you'll loose" advice my at-the-time Missouri lawyer gave me (who later sued me for unpaid retainer)....

I maintain the the cloud is (or could be) too thick, dense to put anyone in the hall anymore. I think its that bad. It has gotten to be too unfair to the guys already in. Also factoring in the records, that's what bothers the old-timers the most (according to Stan the man on a "good" day not too long ago. Bud ought to step in and do something drastic, but it may be too big of a step, understand why he wouldn't.

Putting someone in the hall is subjective for the most part, isn't it? I just think they should lock the doors on it, cept for tourists. Kneejerk, yes. I'll come back when I have more time, appreciate the debate. This A-rod deal did it for me.

1421,

Longer argument later but invoking the "Chicks Dig The Long Ball" ad? Who were the sluggers in that ad? Atlanta PITCHERS, only one of whom could even make contact. It was a spoof! Please.

TYFCB. More Later.

I struggle to remember the ad, was Big Mac in it? Or video of him, Sammy? I'll check u-tube. You know, UMRB , the ad was spoof that the pitchers were jealous of all the HR's being hit, and attn given it, but the hole thing was BS, the swept the roid issue under the rug long enough for BB to get back on it's feet. Remember the notion of the ball being wrapped tighter, or something like that? That may have been the diversion (not the official one, but the one we as fans and supporters came up with to make ourselves feel better about the crock of BS we were supporting). "Chicks dig the long ball" encapsulates the hole smoke and mirror show that, in Costners words, "They sold this lemon to the American Public"....

Like I said, I fell for it, was on the bandwagon till a few years ago. Kind of the adult version of there is no Santy Claus, I guess, when it comes out that's it was all BS. I still say no one (86-03) gets in the hall, and admit its knee jerk and emotional reaction to an extent.

I just feel hoodwinked, gypted, and of coarse disillusioned. But, hey, at least we're talking BB, not politics!

We as fans ar to blame, I guess, ultimately, for not suporting small ball, base stealing, pinch hitting, double-switching, bunting, run manufacturing, etc. But these activities don't seem to make a splash on ESPN (sorry, KC quote again "Whom i consider accomplshes after the fact....) hightlights, do they?
