CHICAGO: DA TROOF AND OLD RADICALS

We're up to our national crack in unmanageable debt. We're in two wars. The international monetary scene is so bad that freaking Dubai is out of money!

So what is the McCain/Palin team talking about? Whether BObama is friends with some used up 60's radical/criminal. How many people even know what the Weather Underground was?

Ah, but you see, they're only doing it because it impacts Obama's candor. My God, they were on a charitable board together. Obama's even been in the rad's living room. Not only that but the guy's wife's parents couldn't even spell "Bernadine". Come on, Barry, tell the troof about this important stuff. We need something to take the troops' collective minds off of the Dow roller coaster

Wake me up when ya'll have an economic plan.....or a defense plan.....or a space plan.......or an infrastructure plan......or even a plan on when your staff can agree on whether you will be announcing a plan or not.

Old radical is still a new radical. Terrorist aside, a socialist/marxist "educator" who touts Hugo Chavez's educational reforms should be of concern when it is clear he had a influence on the formative political, educational and community organizing years of Obama.

Senator McCain has a problem now with his transition team chairman. Seems this guy, Timmons, worked with lobbyists that supported Saddam Hussein. When the Palin gangs hear that will they shout "terrorist" and "off with his head" when Sarah mentions Mccain?

forceps,

I appreciate your point of view. Maybe if these guys were talking most of the time about stuff that matters, I could agree with you that it's OK to put in a little time on questionable associations. I think it's just another sign that this campaign is powered by that noted alternative fuel, chickenshit.

Gotta agree with UMR there.

I don't think I want EITHER of these guys and their gangs in the White House.

UMR can I write you in?

UMR and Tookie! There's a winning combination!

The economy IS an important issue. Trying to figure out what O will do is difficult since he has so little background and accomplishments. Looking at his influences may shed light on his recent statement to the plumber wanting "to spread the wealth around" as well as his plan to tax the top 5% to give the lower 95% $1000 each. The lower 30% don't pay any taxes so this is pure redistribution and will not solve the problem. Once the handouts start they recipients will demand more & more.

Nice to know that hanging out wwith radical terrorist from the past is no big thing for the Dems however I would guess if McCain had been hanging out with David Duke the story would be different. Yep, the Dems who have run God out of the schools, love to kill the unborn, who spit on the boys coming home from Viet Nam, love anything gay and kinky and who find Christianty totally offensive never worry about past association. Right!! Can you spell Christianty!!

Bushwhacked,

Yammering about Ayers is not going to help our republic one stitch.

I'm one of the guys who was spit on in uniform in airports and it wasn't demcrats doing it. It was just irresponsible creeps.

Calling Democrats names doesn't advance the discussion one whit of whether the Ayers thing is pure chickenshit or whether it's a meaningful issue for this election.

Ayers/Dohrn are creeps and criminals but talking about them is less enlightening that West Coast Rap.

Joe the Plumber is a guy that doesn't understand Obama's, or McCain's for that matter, tax policy. He no doubt heard some silly commmercial or a snippet from Sarah Palin and decided to believe it instead of trying to get the real information. I'm not real sure about his business sense either. From what we've learned, the man is a 40,000 a year plumber but he doesn't want to make 250,000 a year because he will have to pay more taxes. I just hope he's a good plumber.

Turns out he's not a Plumber and not much of a taxpayer, as far as his home state is concerned.

Grandstander, I guess. Andy Warhol had him nailed.

He's probably a racist too. Killing the messenger does nothing to address Obama's ridiculous tax plan.

Clinton taught you well.

Umr-

It is disingenuous of you not to clear up Oracle's confusion. Honesty is not really a priority for you guys though, is it?

One year I made $80,000 and the next I made $200,000, after I bought a business. Most of my income for several years went to paying for buying the business. A higher tax rate would have made it harder or taken longer to pay off my obligation. Even if I was making it on the gross, what I was living on really was less than before I bought the business. Most people have plans of improving or growing a business once they take the risk of buying or starting a business. I thought Joe said he was thinking of buying a business and his concern was about the taxes he would pay (& spouse if one) if he was successful.

I wonder what the effect of selling an asset (like some inherited or investment property) and making a one time earning of $250,000+ would do to your tax status the next year?

0840,

What is it that I said that is untrue?

I don't do the race thang so you'll have to peddle that somewhere else.

0945,

All fair points. I don't think most guys with tax liens are bona fide buyers of going concern businesses, thought.

People with tax liens can come to Quincy and get low interest loans that never have to be paid back. Or you can lease a building and all the equipment for $100 a month. Talk about a freaking brain-dead deal. Do you think that deal was offered to any local people??? Not a chance. Main Street Tap arises from the debt load as the new Phoenix at the taxpayer’s expense. How convoluted can things get?

b/w,

Don't think he's leasing the building for CSB for $100/mo. If you're gonna whack something, at least have your facts straight.

Then do tell us what you like about Obama's tax policy.

1833,

Not much. It'll never pass anyhow. These twerps will figure out that they still have to pay for medicare and repay the SS trust. Any changes to the tax code will be cosmetic.

McCain's $5000.00 fairy tale is also DOA.

At the end of the day the reason to vote for Obama over McCain comes down to "Do you want the government snooping in your email, mail, phone and other contact without probable cause?" Obama is the more likely of the two to appoint judges who kind of get that there are some constitutional barriers to such cavorting.

Everybody seems to have bought into the idea that Gov't can have some real, long term impact on people's earning capacity. Other than maybe educational programs (GI Bill, Americorps), I've never bought that one. When these guys profess to be our financial saviour, I yawn a lot.

So Obama will appoint judges that will overturn his own vote on FISA?

At 1:58 PM, October 20, 2008, Anonymous Anonymous said...

So what's your reason to vote for Obama now? Seeing as that whole FISA thing takes your last argument away.

Your question makes no sense. Try again.

At 6:10 AM, October 21, 2008, Blogger UMRBlog said...

You think a vote to maintain a FISA court and to require timely resort to it after an emergency intercept is somehow inconsistent with my concern for privacy and probable cause?

You live someplace I've never even visited.

Obama voted for the Dodd amendment, to delete telecom immunity from the act. The Dodd amendment failed, 66-32. Later came the cloture vote, the one on which Obama had pledged to vote "No." Obama voted "Yes." He then voted with the 69-28 majority in favor of the act.

By the way, does that sound like a LEADER to you? Did Obama CRAFT the amendment stripping immunity? And when it came to the final vote, did he take a stand on it like he claimed he would on the campaign trail? How can anyone seriously believe in this guy?

At 10:09 AM, October 21, 2008, Blogger UMRBlog said...

Just so we're clear, you just changed the subject.

We went from privacy considerations to vendor liability. I take your point about Obama's swerve on vendor liability. That has nothing to do with requiring of the Gov't probable cause before they intercept a citizen's communications.
