BCS CHUCKLEHAIDS: OHIO STATE VS. OKLAHOMA

If you peel back the layers, Georgia and Virginia Tech eliminate themselves. USC and LSU are fine teams but, why should two loss teams go in front of a Major Conference one loss team?

Answer: It shouldn't..........and this from a fan who believes the SEC is clearly the best conference in NCCAAF.

As a Mizzou fan, after watching two games against OU, I wonder how any team has beaten them this year. Then I see it was Colorado (really shocking) and Texas Tech (less shocking) that have beaten them. LSU is a fine team, but let's look at their last three. A decent but uninspiring victory over a beleagured Ole Miss team, overtime loss to Arkansas, and again a decent but uninspiring victory over a Tennessee team that hasn't been on anyone's radar as a tough team all year. I certainly don't know which two teams should be playing for the title, but a case could be made against almost anybody. This is the 1st year I can recall where there isn't even one team that is a no-brainer to put in there. I guess it is the OSU with only one loss (and that coming against a BCS participant -- Illinois). I don't like OU, but I'd have to say they are one of the two best teams in the country right now. What do you say to GA, VT, USC, and LSU then?

0725,

Much merit in what you say. Now that I have calmed down, I have no quarrel with the LSU thang. If we just went "hot" team, the logical extension of that logic is Hawaii and that's a greasefire.

When Fox was showing the "expectants", I didn't see any shots of Notre Dame. What's up with that?

I think UGA would take OU behind the woodshed and beat em with a stick !

I think a healthy LSU team , which we will get come Nat'l champ day is a POWER HOUSE ....see the LSU vs VaTech score .....OUCH !

LSU has what we call the SEC is a mfer thing going on . No one is 100% .....Glen Dorsey healthy makes the UM Warren Sapp look chumpish and fat .

LSU has 5-7 first round guys agin this year .

And Hester ......big white & mean .

UGA started playing like a champ the last 6 games and are HOT !

Mizzou could not stop the VERY avg running game of OU ........

Wait until they see DMAC and Felix Jones ........

USC is playing to their level and will shell the Illini .....I am sorry Fighting Zookers BUT Juice will get squeezed !

And the Rainbow warriors will have a full plate vs UGA in a home game for UGA , recall the Sugar bowl is SEC country !

I am just worried about BAMA once again facing that dreaded and fearsome "inside Trout" ........

I get nightmares about those fish

Hey. Notre Dumb is STILL expecting a bowl bid ... especially after that huge win over Navy.

Wait a second .... they lost to NAVY? Ooops. Sorry about that.

Michigan may have that App. St. loss over its head, but at least they are playing on New Year's Day.

I guess it is tradition that sends the Illini to the Rose Bowl, but who would not have liked to see a OU-USC matchup? Likely would have been a real good one.
Vegas has the Illini as 14 point dogs.

I realize there are some Arkansas rooters here, and no one was rooting harder for them than I to beat LSU, but I think time may help Mizzou. Mizzou has nearly always had an undersized defense that gets worn down toward the end of the year. With some time off, they may be able to get their legs back and put up some (how much is the question) resistance to a pretty vanted Arkansas offense. Don't forget that Mizzou is no slouch on offense itself. Kaufman was completely out versus OU (he was a force in the 1st matchup) and Alexander got hurt early. I think the MU-UA matchup, to borrow a phrase from Keith Jackson, will be a dandy. Probably not a game won by the "big uglies" up front (given the explosive offensive players) to borrow another Jacksonism.
No point spread up yet (that I know of) so my guess is that Mizzou will be a 1 point favorite. Any other guesses? thoughts?

Mizzou is a 3.5 point favorite and LSU is about a 5.5 point favorite. Although if anyone thinks a LSU-OU or LSU-USC matchup would produce a bigger spread, I'd say they're crazy. OU is about 6.5 favorite over WVU. The old adage is that they don't build those big casinos by giving money away.

The Spread is designed to one thing and one thing only: Get an equal number of peeps to bet on each side of the proposition. Then the vig is all profit.

The spread has nothing to do with picking winners of a football game.

I will say this. Mo and Ark. have a trait in common. Their defenses wear down at the end of games.
