PAIN IN PITTSBURGH: A GOLF COURSE HARDER THAN BEOWULF

Yes, kiddies, it is that sadistic hour where the best golfers in the world are asked to play that glorious unplayable lie known as Oakmont (in the Pittsburgh burbs). The people there are really nice but the golf course is a brute.

Avoiding the usual suspects, here a few folks I think might do well on this hellish track: Joe Durant; Ryan Moore; Sean O'Hair and a rebounding Retief Goosen. Except for Goosen, not big names but picking Eldrick is no fun.

When you're yucking it up watching the best players in the world be humiliated, just remember, ad about 25 to whatever you shoot at your home course. That's what you would put up at Oakmont.

Still my favorite weekend of the year.

Me too. Between the Open and the Nifong trial, I am glued to the TV. You could not pay for this entertainment.

Olazabal should do well. You need a world beater short game cause no matter what, you will hit from the rough at least %20 of your shots.

O, I know you know you gawf and I know Ollie's on the leaderboard right now but he hits barely 50% of fairways.

Love the guy but I look for him to fade.

Ay, UMRB,what ever happened to that "Mummy Rapist" guy in Qcy? Early 80's, I think. It was all you heard about on the news, at the time. Were you SA then? Who'd they ever pin that on?

I worked felony detentions for five years as a RN. Nothing unusual about Paris and the early kick out. She is seving more time than most in her catagory. I would like every drunk driver to get an automatic year sentence, but right now, that is not it. The hospital room is like a typical cell with cot, washbasin and toilet - no luxury there. The jail is always freezing - on purpose-to keep tempers down. No privace at all. There is not enough room for the real criminals - murderers and the like. Everybody normally gets kicked out at 2:00AM-less fuss

Furyk and Woods kept the viewers on the edge of their seats. I'm glad NBC didn't break away. +5 was a great score.

I think this golf tournament taught us an important lesson. Smoking not only makes you look cool, it can also help you win the US Open.
