CHICAGO: R. KELLY CASE--THE STRATEGY IS CLEAR

It's been five years since the dude with the beautiful voice, R. Kelly, was arrested for allegedly videotaping some very adult acts with an unadult person. Beats me whether the State can convict him but the defense strategy is now clear. Delay the trial until the victim gets Alzheimer's and can't remember to testify against him.

Hell, I think pokey California got OJ to trial faster than that.

and it has also numbed the general public as well. Your reminder of this happening highlights the 24 hour news cycle.

News today, gone tomorrow. If only it was that easy to forget the likes of Paris Hilton.

That's a good point and a good reason why all non-murder cases in Illinois should have a rebuttable presumption in favor of disposition within six months.

BTW, this is an area where your local justice system far outperforms the urban centers. We can take a little pride in that.
