ST. LOUIS JOURNALISM AND QUINCY NAUGHTINESS: THE SUN DOESN'T SHINE ON T HE SAME DOG'S TAIL EVERY DAY

First, if you didn't see LaRussa's tirade last week, go to Rocky Cola (Linked to the right) and watch it. Don't cheat. Do that first.

The worm has since turned. A young reliever is dead and there is the implication of alcohol involvement as well as other player complicity and at least a suggestion of broadcaster enabling. Normally, the ensuing stories would be about the young reliever and his behavior.

The double wild cards here are LaRussa's own DUI, this year, and the fact he so recently pissed off the Post-Dispatch. How long do you suppose it will be before the paper runs a piece suggesting that LaRussa couldn't properly lead this young man because of the manager's own misdeeds and bad judgment?

Payback is hell. Never get into a peeing contest with somebody who buys ink by the barrel.

The over and under is Friday.

I fear for LaRussa too, because he is one of the best coaches ever and respects all of baseball. The clip on my page was him being upset about the Post Dispatch writing a funny, but disrespectful article on THE CUBS.
Here is the thing about beer & STL.

Let's see...

I grew up clapping to the Bud jingle since I was 5.
The opening ceremonies every year for the Cards has the Dalmations and the Clydesdales stomping around.
The name of the stadium, is Busch.
Pretty obvious, there is some major connections with alcohol and the Cards, and MLB. But this has been around for a long time. LaRussa is in the middle of a "perfect storm".
