VERY DISAPPOINTING: BLUE RIBBON PANELS AND WAR CRIMES INQUIRIES
Didn't agree with much of the B-43 anti-terrorism strategy but I was sure pleased when BObama said repeatedly that he didn't want to look backward at the decisions made during the post 911 era.
Then Patrick Leahy started grumbling and then MoveOn.org started grumbling and now we're leaving it up to Eric Holder (The guy who couldn't even stand behind the correct legal advice he gave President Clinton in 2001) and maybe a super-duper Warren Commission.
44 said he wasn't going to criminalize polemics and he appears to be doing the Pontius wash.
Just very disappointing. I kind of like it when guys actually do what they run on.

If Obama really didn't want prosecutions he could simply bust out the presidential pardon, right?
So check out Roger Cohen's column in this morning's New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/23/opinion/23iht-edcohen.html
What do like about his first 100 days?
Saddle up cowboy, you're in for many more by the evidence put forth so far.
I suspect you will be disappointed a lot during the next four years.
0755,
Not the whole bailout thing but I do approve of the focus on good faith underwater mortgage assistance. I know two people who have never missed a payment and now own Real Estate that is worth less than the "Equity" level they've paid in. They could use a payment that reflects the value of their property, still pays the Bank back 100 cents on the dollar and for a profit but which keeps them from abandoning their properties (and taking the remaining prop values down even further).
Contrary to popular opinion, this is not the taxpayers paying for someone else's greed (I'm only talking about the righteous mortgage "under water" rescue program now.) This is stabilizing an important market at nearly zero risk to the taxpayer.
Other than that one thing: Well, the dog's cute.

Uncle Joe,
Thanks. You're still my editor (with all due deference to my esteemed neighbor.)

Joe,
Well constructed but I thought until yesterday that was also the policy of the USA.
TY, again.
Joe is Tookie's editor and your neighbor is a far better newsman . Joe danced to TAO's fiddle far too long and lost touch with the City .
Joe is Tookie's Uncle. I kind of doubt he's actively involved in the day-to-day work on the Web Organ.
My neighbor knows where he stands on my personal hit parade. Just not necessary to lift one up by putting the other down.
All I know is Joe's C&P beats most people's best original mat'l.

Joe danced for his soup far too long . I meant he was Tookie's Uncle , your the only net Uncle to all .
So you don't believe in redemption?

At least here, I'll tell you when I am.

Not necessarily your argument in the original post, but whats up with this "we have more important things to do than investigate torture memos" argument? Our government held hearings for steroid use in baseball while the financial crisis was germinating and we were fighting two wars. They debated resolutions over Terri Schaivo long into the night. They prosecuted Bill Clinton for lying about getting his winky wet. We don't have time to spare to look into our government torturing people?
I'll torture anybody to find out info to save my Country/Family/Friends/Pets/ ---Even Lib. Bloggers.
Obama is silly on this, and he knows it. He has Flip Flopped three times in the last three days. Now he has given up and handed it over to Holder. Good move. Everybody needs a buffer/scapegoat when things go against you.
