NOT 44.....PRESIDENT OBAMA'S GOTTA BE 45

If Obama's 44, he's got the same number as Henry Aaron. Henry is the greatest righthanded hitter of all time. Obama's dexterity is left handed. Henry's number is retired, that is, not available. It must be skipped.

As a consequence, even though Bush was 43, Obama's 45. It's only right.

(Oh, and for you baseball historians, yes, I know Aaron began by wearing number 5...it didn't last long.)

Yesterday in his speech Obama stated that "Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath." Makes no sense to say it that way when it's not true.

Barack Obama is the 43rd person to serve as president. Grover Cleveland is considered the 22nd and 24th presidents because of that re-election loss to Benjamin Harrison in 1888, so he didn't serve consecutive terms. An open bar tab would be welcome, however.

Don't think he would even be the 43rd, considering how many Presidents have won reelection for two or more terms. I personally would not count that President has 2 people...jmo

You do realize that 45 is a sacred, retired number as well.

352

The fact is that only forty-three Americans have taken the Presidential oath of office. Some have taken it more than once, like Dubya and Bubba before him-just like Grover Cleveland, the 22nd and 24th President of the United States.

Though Cleveland, unlike any other American, had the distinction of being the only President to serve two non-consecutive terms, he remains only one person-one American-not two. That's why only forty-three Americans have taken the Presidential oath of office, not forty-four.

By Chance I was there when when 45 came off that remarkable person for the last time, having made Peter LaCock a piece of baseball history. Had no idea I was watching the end of the run.

Different only because he wasn't in context the greatest of all time. Maybe we should go to 46 for Obama, though. I'm open to it.
