NOTES TO OUR REPUBLICAN FRIENDS

You're going to be looking at a lot of legislative proposals from the new administration. You will hate them all. If you try to kill them, you will look vengeful, retributive dorks. The majority will emphasize they're just trying to clean up your messes. The editorial pages will kill you.

Instead, get language concessions. Get sunset clauses. Get promises they won't screw around with capital gains for a year. Get something and look like you're wistfully supporting the new president. Nobody's going to vote for a spoilsport party picking on a sympathetic new leadership figure at mid term. Survive by not getting killed, not by catching the obstructionist label.

Here in CD-17: Continue to wait for the decennial census and redistricting. You can't beat Phil Hare in the currently configured anyhow and it makes you look stupid to have the odd dragon lady or psychoabortiongunguy on your ticket. 2012's your big chance--nyuck, nyuck--to get beat by John Sullivan!

Oh, and to our friends in Missouri--Try to recruit another up-and-comer like the Blunt Instrument. In a state you should own, he was the gift that kept on giving (to Democrats). Boy, I just can't wait to see that dynamic Peter Kinder get a lot of stuff done this term. Would have loved to see a Kinder-Bringer race. Sweepsville! Jeremiah was a bullfrog!

This one party rule with Obama at the helm got you a little worried? It's a bit early for buyer's remorse already.

I think John Sullivan is beatable right now . He has moved far too LEFT for his district . In the coming months and years the worm will turn once again and the target for unhappy folks will shift to him .

I think the R's will do a fine job at regrouping . I also see the R's statewide doing a huge regroup .

Just think we will start to grow more Shocks .

I'm worried for the country and folks will have nobody to blame but the guys in power. We have a medicare deficit, A social security train wreck and a multi-front war we can't afford.

When the new guys get in and look at the books, they are going to know the real reason for the gridlock. All they high rhetoric is in the dumper about the 25th of January and don't spend that tax cut just yet.

Put away the airplane glue Took.

Pro-gun, pro-life and brings cement into the district by the boatload.

Name one big lefty thing he has actually done. Hell, he didn't even vote for the first CTA bailout.

He's also against the 8 team playoff (Well, I just made that up)

Two years ago I would agree , but now I tend to not agree . Recall his first big blunder , GRT and his lack of coming into town .

Now with a new Senate leader , John has a new life span. Emil really was painting all with a bad brush .

I just watch how politics changes over time . The swing to the left and then the counter swing to the right .

Sometimes guys.gals like John get caught in the wrong swing.

And Hare can be beat by a DEM , a R not so much .

All the Pundits are saying Nancy P is going to be out on her @ss when they hold house elections . That is a good thing .

Buddy,

You just changed your argument. If you had made the "The pendulum eventually gets everybody" argument, I would have agreed with you.

That's entirely different from "Sullivan's moved left" which was without basis.

You think he should have shown up at the GRT Cluster? That would be like going to a leper colony and enlisting. That's not left or right. That's survival.

He should have shown with Jil to discuss it with the 300 business folks . Sullivan tends to teflon a lot . He will show at the Machinist Hall , but not with a group of business people .

He will show at the chamber , but be saved from tough questions by TAO and Springer .

I like John , but I feel disenfranchised by his handlers and his politics of late.

Now who is going to offer the Olive branch to Shock from City Hall ? We had CWS and Mayor Mcfacial Hair at the Calahan presser in the park .

Does Sullivan go eat humble pie ? How does Mayor Stache' build bridges he is so good at burning down ?

The guy is like Sherman , except he is burning his own supply lines .

Took,

You realize this is three posts and you haven't given me one example of moving left.

I think you're talking about he businessmen's meeting before there was any bill, any language or any written proposal. John's choice was to torch his Governor (who, of course, richly deserved torching) or wait till there was an actual bill sent up (so he could find some language to disagree with--wouldn't have been hard.) and then have a discussion.

The chamber doesn't ask hard questions anymore anyhow. It took them a month to figure out they opposed the goofy school sales tax.

Aaron Schock loves Adams County Democrats. No worries there. He's got the right people on speed dial. In fact, I think O is retiring to spend more time with Aaron.

Gotta get back to work.
