You mean to tell me that the Revenue Enhancers have their own day now? People would be more apt to celebrate this day if our boys in blue actually did go after the real criminals.

Not all of them. Just the dead ones. I suspect as they realized they were dying it was their impression they were dealing with real criminals.

Not real sure you want to have this discussion today.

Tony,

The flag here at the Delavan National Guard Armory will fly at half-staff this week for one of our own.

SPC Ron Gebur was a member of the ILARNG's 733 Quartermaster Battalion. He joined the Regular Army about 18 months ago, and gave the ultimate sacrifice over the weekend in Iraq.

He was 22 years young and leaves a wife and 9 month old child. I ask that everyone keeps his family in their prayers.

Thanks for your time.
MSG Nick Peters,
ILARNG

Thanks for coming by. You're welcome here any time. I'm Out of town and don't know what you speak of. I'll catch up when I return.

Tony;
This might be too late for your review, but just a few words from "a friend" from the east. After years of doing this memorial for three different police departments, it matters not what they die for, because it is clear they died for all of us. The questions is; will we remember them. If we forget then they have died in vain, and we should not let them die in vain. May the last name on the wall, be the last name on the wall.

RT,

Thank you. If I can presume to add to what you so beautifully shared, police officers serve what the brilliant military officer and Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes called "Ordered Liberty". Ordered Liberty is something we all enjoy when we travel home safely from work so we can post entries about excessive traffic and parking enforcement or whatever has our goat at the moment.

That's all this thread was ever about and I'm most grateful for your submission which brought us back to the main point.

Many thanks.

Oh, and, as you know, we are ahead of schedule in Illinois. Five officers Killed on duty in '05. Five already in '06. What a sorry number!
