DATE-STAMPING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

Doctor, I get these terrible headaches.....

First, the president pre-dates, antedates, post-dates (I never can get these right: Why is a check written on the first of the month, to be cashed on the tenth "Post-dated"when it's actually been freaking "pre-dated"?) the Cinco de Mayo. Then, the Adams County Young Republicans list under "Upcoming Events" in their website something in the middle of April. Boys and Girls, that was last month.

Does that make Bush progressive and the ACYRs regressive? It's kinda like the modified Bible Verse "For everything, there used to be a season..."

Note to YR's. Call it a "Calendar of Events" and then it doesn't matter if it's not current. It's a historical document.

Tony,

Give these guys a break. The Republican Party does not take shots at the ACYD's. So who are we to take shots at the YR's. Let them live and learn. Plus its kinda funny to see them make mistakes too.

Yeah, Right. GOP might not mention the YD's as an org, they just rip the members.

If you put your "upcoming events" on the Web, it's not a "shot" to comment truthfully on them.

I was only looking in there to see if they had posted a picture of me with a bunch of GOP County Board members. I keep hearing about how that picture was in the paper but I guess it just wasn't in the edition that was delivered to my house.

Besides, I think these folks have trouble deciding when they're sitting as the YR's and when they're assembled as the YP's. It's not easy being a budding community leader. So much wine and cheese, so little time.

The next ACYR event is June 2nd

We are all having steak at the JJ farm . Most YR 's are less rabid than the YD's . And as of lately us YR's have been FUNNY .

Truely a sad sad day when YR's have more humor than YD's

I wonder if we could get John Daly to put on a golf, drinking and vegas lose it all demo on June 2nd

;)

Man, you could spell some tickets on a JD appearance!

I guess my invitation has been lost in the mail.

At 8:01 AM, May 08, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Tony,

The tickets have not been mailed out yet. Two over-exuberant members of the YD's sent a couple tickets out early to their counterparts as a joke. The really funny part was when their counterparts purchased the tickets. You will get some in the mail I am sure. Hell, a past board member hasn't even recieved theirs yet.

Tony,

Thank you for visiting our site.
The site has now been updated and is awaiting your approval. The lack of update was just a bi-partisan effort on our part to let the ACYD's have time to update their website and catch up.

So much for that! I would assume next time that you of all people will understand that life's obligations don't always allow us to update our website as much as we'd like.

But thanks again for visiting our site, and I look forward to a good steak dinner with Charles and the rest of my ACYD friends...

I am not sure the YR's socialize ! that whole lions eat their young thing . Most YR's are too busy plotting world take overs and oppressing the masses .

I have to run and seed the clouds so we can make more storms ! Most deadly storms are our fault you know.

rumor has it a YR disconnected all the bus batterys in New Orleans before Katrina !

Kyle,

Last time I looked, the ACYD's still said "Clean Sweep 2002". They are crafty, avoiding peaking too early.

It just struck me funny cuz it said "Upcoming Events". I well recognize you can't have a life and a perfect website at the same time.

Actually, I think it's great when young folks get involved in politics, Gov't, public service, even if they hook up with the "wrong" party.

Thanks for stopping by. You're welcome any time.

even if they hook up with the "wrong" party." Quoting UMR

I could not agree more !

That is exactly my thoughts on the ULTRA Rabid ACYD !

Rabid??????

I resemble that remark, too bad the ACYD's won't let me come out an play anymore. They should be prosecuted for AGE discrimination.

I find myself CONFUSED at "Spring Street" as a meeting place . Isn't Rocky point OUR "club" ?

I see the ACYD is doing movie night on the riverfront ..... I am not sure "Brokeback Mountain" is the correct movie .

But hey to each their own

Actually there are no rabid ACYD's. One was up all night studying for his blood test, but he passed.

A little tuleremia here and there but no rabies.

At 12:58 PM, May 09, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Tony,

I can not believe that you would insult the ACYD's this way.

Tuleremia is found in wild animals (this part I agree) commonly transmitted by the eating of rabbits and rodents.

At least give the ACYD'a little credit. When I was a member the only thing on their menu is elephant steak.

At 2:06 PM, May 09, 2006, Blogger UMRBlog said...

Anon 1458,

The use of tuleremia (about which I learned as a rabbit-hunting boy) was to demonstrate the absurdity of the use of the word "rabid"

Thank you for commenting

Thought about scratching through the 2002 and penning in 2006. Then we remembered that Alexi might not make it to Nov.

a certain Keith's email ADDY does NOT work

ACYD needs to fix the "contact us" hyper link .

And I will settle for just DISTEMPER for the disease .

And we need more rabbit hunting in the city ! My yard is flooded with the darn things. Maybe QPD could use their M4's - no scratch that 1 rabbit hit 29 cars , homes, and kids in a friendly rabbit fire accident .

Anon 0646,

A couple of thoughts on that. First, I missed the memo where it became against the law for a banker to simply loan money to someone suspected of being OC. Going into partnership with such a guy or taking cash deposits from such a guy can be icky but loaning him money is what banks do. It is no more illegal for a bank to loan such a guy money than it is for the guy who delivers his pizza to sell him food or for his drycleaner to clean his suits.

Second, you really think Senator Obama is that careless that he'd push all his chips into the middle of the table on a guy he didn't know to be a straight shooter.

That AG didn't handle this very well when Rich Miller first broke it I concede. Just because brother Miller writes something dark and murky doesn't mean indictments are pending or even that there's an investigation intitiated.

My take is that this is a remarkable young man with a "third way" approach and an excellent knowledge of environmental issues. I fear that some of my friends are holding it against him that he beat a Western Illinois Guy in the the primary and that he first visited that Hampshire HQ. All I ask is that you open your mind to him as a very viable candidate for this office and maybe others.

As my friend JJ says about another prominent candidate "He's a sumbitch but he's OUR sumbitch". This guy isn't and he's ours and he's able.

Thanks for coming by

Tony,

Sell it anyway you like, but you know as well as I do that politics is about perception. He won't be able to change this perception. Not trashing him, just pointing out his chance of winning.

8:09

They may want to change that contact info. The certain "Keith" that you are speaking of, is no longer a Board member or a member of the ACYD's.

At 9:47 AM, May 10, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

As a matter of fact, I don't think he is even envolved in politics anymore due to family obligations. At least that is what I am hearing.

Anon 809,

You say so and Obama says "no". Since I don't know who you are and what your basis of knowledge is, I'm guessing Obama's take is better than yours, with all due respect and thanks for your comments.

I just can't see Obama signing up for a bloody nose just for some guy he plays basketball with on Sunday nights.

Yeah, I see where Auburn has changed their cheer to "Punt, Obama, Punt!" Some moments live forever.

Mr "GWT" does know where you live.

"Punt BAMA punt" is a truely LOW blow .

I mean politics is politics but Auburn references ----- WOW

:( a sad non-ghey winkie thing

At 3:01 PM, May 10, 2006, Blogger UMRBlog said...

What you know but what most people fail to realize is that the "Punt, Bama, Punt!" cheer was inaugurated @ an Alabama Auburn game the same year as the fateful punt. How is that possible you say, when they only play each other once a year?

It was a BASEBALL game.

That's how pervasive football is in the ol' souf!

Remind me and I will drop off " Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer " and "War in Dixie"

2 great books

" Rammer" is written by a NY Times guy who followed the Tide in an RV for 2 seasons

Lemme see, follow an SEC football team an RV for two years and get paid for it. Yeah, I'd go for that.

Beats hell out of writing about Barry Bonds and going to jail to protect a slimeball courthouse source.

I'd love to read 'em. Thanks.

Anon 1847,

Hello? May I help you? Certainly, this must be germane to some blog somewhere but there's nothing in this thread vaguely related to whatever "she" you might be talking about.

Perhaps you clicked on the wrong blog. Perhaps you have a new prescription waiting for you at Walgreens. We do hope it works out for you.

Thank you for stopping by even if it appears you didn't mean to.

I hope Sparky BALLS up and tosses his hat in the ring ! I know myself and alot of ACYR's will become ACYD's for more than just a primary .
