ATHLETES AND SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER

The Basin has a couple of friends with SAO, so it is not minimized here.

Still, have you ever noticed that athletes don't go on the disabled list for Social Anxiety Disorder while they are hitting .350 or averaging five yards a carry?

Guys who go on the DL for SAO are hitting .187 or averaging 2.2 yards per carry or 1.5 catches per game.

Maybe because it's because they aren't playing well because they're freaked out all the time

Ah, good, you've gotten us right to essential question: Is the Social Anxiety Disorder cause or effect?

IOW, are we only afraid of social interaction when we're going to get booed?

If we're talking about someone like Khalil Greene, from what I understand it isn't really so much that they are afraid of being booed, so much as putting enormous pressure on oneself to be perfect. In that light every error or even failing to get on base becomes magnified to an unhealthy level. In a sport where you are kicking butt at a 30% success rate that can snowball in a hurry. I think this is a little different than the Social Anxiety-Ricky Williams deal.

For Ricky, it was nothing a few herbs couldn't fix.

KG was doing good until he got plunked in KC! Bastards. They also knocked out a starting pitcher for St. Lou when they were in St. Lou.

Of course that presumes the Royals do ANYTHING intentionally.
